The updated Parachute Technician standards are FINALLY available. There are three levels: Basic PT (reserve packer), Senior PT (minor repairs) and Master PT (major repairs). All current NZPIA PTs are basic PTs, with the option to upgrade to a repair PT if they meet the criteria.

The Boogie Balance by Beth Bryan

The Boogie Balance by Beth Bryan

For years, I have been hearing about this Good Vibes Boogie from my sister. She tells me it’s great, super fun, awesome people, strangeness & shenanigans, etc.  I think “yeah, yeah, there’s loads of boogies I can go to here”…

But this year I decided to pop in for a surprise visit to this Good Vibes thingy (19 hours travel time, why have I never popped in before???).  I’m going to see what all the talk is about.

GOOD VIBES 2014 - Back to Basics by Jenn Lowe

GOOD VIBES 2014 - Back to Basics by Jenn Lowe

Good Vibes 2014 took place over the last four days of August, a bit later than usual this year but that was a good thing because it meant longer days and warmer weather—mint weather in fact! Other than a bit of stubborn cloud on the Saturday morning, it was blue skies and sunshine all around.

The theme of this year’s boogie was Back to Basics, and that’s just what we got: a no frills, no bells and whistles, just jumping boogie. The rego was only $50 for the whole 4 days, and covered transport between the drop zone and the accommodations every day, a modest fireworks display on the Saturday evening, and the production of some kick-ass day tapes (thanks Ben!).
